MUSCLEAPE / THE CARE EDIT
Strong leather.
Considered care.
A little attention after every session. A longer life for your belt.
For all leather belts: prong, lever and other buckle styles. Choose care by the leather finish, not by the closure.

After every wear
Wipe. Air. Store.
Remove dust & sweat
Wipe smooth leather with a soft, dry cloth. For surface dirt, use a barely damp cloth without soaking. Blot moisture; do not scrub.
Let it breathe
Open the belt and air-dry completely at room temperature in the shade. Take it out of your gym bag after use.
Store without strain
Lay flat or loosely curve in its natural direction. Keep in a cool, dry, ventilated place. Avoid tight coils and heavy objects on top.
Minor surface marks
A gentler touch.
Start dry
On smooth leather, remove dust, then gently buff a light surface scuff with a clean, soft cloth. Some marks will soften; not every scratch will disappear.
Condition only if suitable
If the finish allows it, patch-test a small amount of leather conditioner in a hidden area. Let it dry fully and check for colour change before treating the surface sparingly.
Know when to stop
Do not sand, scrape, heat or use nail polish. Deep cuts, peeling, cracking, torn stitching or stretched holes need professional assessment. Stop using a lifting belt if its structure or hardware is damaged.
Condition & polish
Less is enough.
Check the finish first
These steps are for compatible smooth leather only. Keep creams, oils and polish off suede, nubuck, linings, printed graphics and coated finishes unless their maker approves.
Clean, dry, patch-test
Use a leather-care product labelled for your finish. Test a hidden spot and allow it to dry fully. Apply a very thin layer to a cloth, not directly onto the belt. Follow the product instructions.
Buff to a natural finish
Let the product absorb or dry as directed, then buff with a separate clean cloth. Check for colour transfer before wearing. Polish is optional; do not build up wax or over-soften a lifting belt. Condition only when needed.
What not to do
Keep these away.
No soaking or heat
Never machine-wash, immerse, tumble-dry, iron or use a hair dryer. Avoid radiators, prolonged direct sun and hot cars.
No household shortcuts
Avoid alcohol, sanitiser, bleach, detergent, solvents, cooking oils and petroleum jelly. Keep liquid chalk and fragrance away from the leather.
No forced break-in
Do not sharply fold, tightly reverse-roll or crush the belt. Break it in gradually through normal use. Never store damp leather in sealed plastic or a closed gym bag.
Suede, lining & hardware
Care for every part.
Suede & nubuck
When dry, gently lift dust and restore the nap with a suede brush. Use only suede-specific cleaners after a hidden patch test. No smooth-leather cream, wax or polish.
Buckles & fasteners
Wipe metal dry. Check prongs, levers, screws, stitching and holes before use. Follow your model’s fitting instructions; never force a closure or let care products enter its mechanism.
Unsure about a mark?
Send a clear photo and your belt model to support@muscleape.in before applying products. This guide covers leather belts with any buckle style. Material-specific instructions take priority.
Good to know.
Can I completely remove a scratch?
Light scuffs may become less visible with gentle buffing and finish-compatible care. A scratch that cuts through the finish or leather cannot reliably be removed at home. Do not keep rubbing if the colour changes.
How often should I condition my belt?
There is no fixed schedule for every leather finish or climate. Check the surface periodically and condition sparingly only when needed and permitted by the maker. A lifting belt should retain its intended firmness.
What if my belt gets wet?
Blot with a clean cloth, open it out and let it dry naturally in the shade. Do not heat it or seal it in a bag. If it becomes distorted, mouldy or cracked, contact support before use.
