Muscleape lifting straps attach your hands to the bar so grip stops being the reason a set ends. They are for pulling movements — deadlifts, barbell and dumbbell rows, shrugs, rack pulls, pulldowns and farmer's walks — where your fingers uncurl before the target muscle is finished. The range covers lasso straps, padded straps and figure-8 straps. All orders ship free across India with 30-day no-questions-asked returns.

Do you need straps, or do you need chalk?

Diagnose the failure before buying. If the bar is slipping because your hands are sweaty, that is a friction problem and chalk fixes it. If your fingers are uncurling under a load your grip cannot hold, chalk will not help and straps will. They are different failures with different solutions.

Lasso, padded or figure-8?

  Lasso straps Figure-8 straps
Security High Maximum — grip is removed entirely
Quick release Yes — open your hand No — hand is threaded through
Best for Everyday pulling, rows, pulldowns, most deadlift work Maximal deadlifts, shrugs, farmer's holds
Safe for Olympic lifts Reasonably No — you cannot bail out
Competition legal No No

If you want one pair for everything, buy lasso. Buy figure-8s when grip is the specific thing standing between you and a heavier deadlift or shrug.

Do lifting straps weaken your grip?

Only if you use them for everything. Grip strength responds to training like anything else, so strapping every set means grip stops being trained. Keep your warm-ups and heaviest sets strapless, or add dedicated grip work, and straps become a tool for removing a limiter on accessory volume rather than a crutch. Competitive powerlifters have no choice on this: straps are not permitted in competition, so raw grip has to be trained.

Our guide to wraps, straps and figure-8s explains which one your problem calls for.

Frequently asked questions

How do you use lasso straps?

Thread the tail through the loop to form a cuff, slide your hand in with the tail across the palm on the bar side, wrap the tail under and around the bar, then roll the bar towards you to cinch it tight and grip over the top.

Are lifting straps allowed in powerlifting competition?

No. Straps of any kind are not permitted on the platform. Wrist wraps are, within length limits.

Are figure-8 straps better?

More secure, not better overall. They essentially eliminate grip as a variable but you cannot release quickly, so they suit maximal deadlifts and holds rather than general training.

Can beginners use lifting straps?

Yes, but use them selectively. Grip is often a genuine weak point early on, and training it directly pays off. Use straps where grip fatigue is ending sets prematurely, not as a default.
