Product description

Muscleape Mahakaal Weight Lifting Straps in black are lasso-style lifting straps, sold as a pair, that tie your hands to the bar so grip stops ending your set early. Use them on deadlifts, barbell and dumbbell rows, shrugs, rack pulls and lat pulldowns — any pulling movement where your fingers give out before your back does. They wrap around the wrist and loop around the bar, transferring load off the fingers and onto the wrist and forearm.

How do you use lasso straps?

  1. Thread the tail through the loop to form a cuff and slide your hand in, tail sitting across the palm on the side facing the bar.
  2. Wrap the tail under and around the bar, then roll the bar back towards you to cinch the strap tight.
  3. Grip over the top of the wrapped strap and pull.
  4. To release, open your hand and unroll — lasso straps let you bail out quickly, unlike figure-8s.

When should you use straps — and when not?

Straps are for removing grip as a limiter on purpose, usually on high-volume accessory pulling where grip fatigue would end the set for the wrong reason. Keep warm-ups and top sets strapless so grip keeps developing, and note that straps are not permitted in powerlifting competition — if you compete, you must train raw grip too.

If the bar is slipping because your hands are sweaty, that is a chalk problem, not a strap problem. Our wraps vs straps guide covers how to tell the difference.

Frequently asked questions

Are lifting straps the same as wrist wraps?

No. Straps attach your hands to the bar for pulling. Wrist wraps stabilise the wrist joint for pressing. Different products for opposite problems.

Do lifting straps weaken your grip?

Only if you use them for everything. Keep warm-ups and heaviest sets strapless, or add dedicated grip work, and straps stay a tool rather than a crutch.

Lasso or figure-8 straps?

Lasso straps are the more versatile everyday choice because you can release them quickly. Figure-8s are more secure for maximal deadlifts and shrugs but you cannot let go fast, so they suit fewer movements.

Can I use these in a powerlifting meet?

No. Lifting straps of any kind are not permitted in powerlifting competition. Wrist wraps are, within length limits.

Muscleape Weight Lifting Straps are used to support grip during deadlifts, rows, shrugs, pull-ups and other heavy pulling exercises.

Are lifting straps good for deadlifts?

Yes, lifting straps are commonly used for deadlifts because they help reduce grip fatigue and keep your hold more secure on the bar.

Do lifting straps support the wrist?

These straps include a padded wrist area for comfort, but their main purpose is grip support. For pressing movements, wrist wraps are more suitable.

Can beginners use lifting straps?

Yes, beginners can use lifting straps during heavy pulling exercises, but they should also train grip strength without straps on lighter sets.

Are lifting straps only for men?

No, Muscleape Weight Lifting Straps are suitable for both men and women who train with barbells, dumbbells, machines or pull-up bars.

Should I use straps for every exercise?

No, use straps mainly for heavy pulling movements where grip becomes the limiting factor. They are not needed for every exercise.

What is the difference between lifting straps and lifting gloves?

Lifting straps help secure your grip to the bar during pulling movements. Gloves mainly protect the palm and may provide light grip comfort.
