Product description

Muscleape Mahakaal 8-Shape Lifting Straps in black are closed-loop figure-8 straps, sold as a pair, and the most secure way to hold a bar. Your hand goes through one loop and the bar through the other, forming a fixed 8 that essentially removes grip as a variable. They are built for maximal deadlifts, heavy shrugs, rack pulls and farmer's holds — work where you want the bar locked to your hands and have no intention of letting go mid-rep.

How do figure-8 straps work?

  1. Put one hand through the top loop of the 8 so the strap sits on your wrist.
  2. Pass the lower loop under and around the bar.
  3. Put the same hand back through the lower loop so your hand and the bar are locked in the two halves of the 8.
  4. Grip the bar normally and pull.

Because your hand is threaded through the loop, you cannot release quickly. That is the trade-off for their security, and it is why figure-8s suit deadlifts and holds rather than anything overhead or anything you might need to bail from.

Figure-8 or lasso straps?

Figure-8s are more secure; lasso straps are more versatile. If you want one pair for everything, buy lasso. If your grip is the specific thing standing between you and a heavier deadlift or shrug, figure-8s remove it more completely than anything else. Note that straps of any kind are not permitted in powerlifting competition, and figure-8s are also banned in most drug-tested federations for meet use.

Frequently asked questions

Are figure-8 straps better than lasso straps?

More secure, not better overall. Figure-8s essentially eliminate grip as a variable, which is ideal for maximal deadlifts and shrugs. Because you cannot release quickly, lasso straps remain the more versatile everyday choice.

Can I use figure-8 straps for Olympic lifts?

No. Anything you might need to drop — snatches, cleans, overhead work — is unsafe in a closed-loop strap because your hand is threaded through it.

Are figure-8 straps allowed in competition?

No. Lifting straps are not permitted in powerlifting competition, and figure-8s specifically are banned in most drug-tested federations. They are a training tool.

Do figure-8 straps come in sizes?

These are a one-size unisex adult pair. Fit is determined by how the loops sit on your wrist and the bar rather than by sizing.

FAQ

What are Muscleape 8 Shape Lifting Straps used for?

Muscleape 8 Shape Lifting Straps are used to support grip during heavy deadlifts, rack pulls, rows, shrugs and other pulling exercises.

Are figure 8 straps good for deadlifts?

Yes, figure 8 lifting straps are popular for deadlifts because they provide a secure loop-style grip around the bar and wrist.

How are figure 8 straps different from regular lifting straps?

Figure 8 straps use a closed loop design that goes around the wrist and bar. Regular straps are longer and must be wrapped manually around the bar.

Can beginners use 8 shape lifting straps?

Yes, beginners can use them, but it is best to practice with lighter weights first and also continue training raw grip strength.

Should I use figure 8 straps for every set?

No, use them mainly for heavy pulling sets where grip is the limiting factor. Warm-ups and lighter sets can be done without straps.

Can I use them for pull-ups?

They are mainly designed for barbell and heavy pulling movements. Regular lifting straps may be more convenient for pull-ups and pulldowns.

Are these straps suitable for strongman training?

Yes, figure 8 straps are commonly used by strongman athletes for heavy pulls, holds and event-style training.
